Job Description:We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Louisville, Kentucky. In this role, you will assist the Controller in managing the organization's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and supporting audits.   • Oversee daily accounting functions, including general ledger management, accounts receivable, sales and use tax, and fixed asset tracking.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes to align financial planning with organizational goals.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to accounting staff, reviewing work for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analyze financial data to deliver insights that drive strategic decision-making.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and system functionality.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, project tracking, and reconciliation of sales and use tax.
  • Serve as a backup to the Controller, stepping in when necessary to ensure continuity of operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including expertise in sales and use tax.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting systems.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and Acumatica, as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Preferred experience in project or construction accounting, including the percentage of completion method and cash flow forecasting.
