- Review project documents, plans, and specifications to understand project scope, requirements, and client expectations.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimations for concrete materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services based on project specifications and industry standards.
- Solicit and review subcontractor bids and proposals and incorporate subcontractor costs into project estimates.
- Analyze project risks and opportunities and develop strategies to optimize project costs and profitability.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to clarify project requirements, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accuracy in project estimates.
- Prepare and present detailed cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages to clients and stakeholders.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project discussions to gather information and insights that impact project estimates.
- Monitor industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to stay informed of market conditions and adjust estimates accordingly.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience as an Estimator or similar role in concrete construction, with a strong background in estimating and bidding on commercial and industrial projects.
- In-depth knowledge of concrete construction techniques, materials, equipment, and industry best practices.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, RSMeans, ProEst) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret technical documents and perform accurate quantity takeoffs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, Vendors and clients.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in estimating and proposal development.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
