
Medical Equipment Technician (CDL)

- Operates sprinter, box truck or other vehicle at or above 26,000 pounds and requires DOT compliance.
- Deliver liquid oxygen as required.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company and all applicable governmental regulations.
- Comply with all applicable company policies and procedures.
- Manage territory to reach service goals and deliver equipment including oxygen as required in accordance with industry standards.
- Educate customers in proper use and care of respiratory and HME equipment in a home setting.
- Complete written patient visits reports following set-up and follow-up visits as required.
- Assist with customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.
- Process all orders in a timely, accurate manner.
- Promote services and products to referral sources in the community as appropriate.
- Develop basic reimbursement knowledge and completely document all information necessary to ensure reimbursement for all appropriate equipment, products, and services.
- Assist with implementation of quality improvement program to meet company policies.
- Maintain home oxygen systems through regularly scheduled visits to customers.
- Assume on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and simple repairs on equipment as required in accordance with company policies.
- Report equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Safely drive and maintain company vehicle.
- Perform patient assessment and re-assessment for patient care.
- Retain knowledge of and consistently adhere to procedures for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection control and hazardous materials handling.
- Maintains knowledge and understands OSHA, DOT and FDA regulations and requirements for oxygen transportation.
- Ability to clearly express understanding of DOT regulations regarding driving distances during On Duty hours not exceeding the 150/100 air mile radius from their starting work location.
- Maintains understanding of all DOT requirements including travel log and be able to present upon demand by a
- DOT or roadside inspection.
- Ability understand and verbally respond to any DOT inspector while driving a company vehicle during On
- Duty hours to explain their travel is within the 150/100 air mile radius from their starting work location and that they are On Duty time records are on file at the Carrier's office location.
- Ability to express their understanding of roadside weigh scale requirements and DOT Inspection
- requirements, producing medical exam card, proof of work vehicle insurance and shipping documents.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
- Completes assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
- Maintains compliant with AdaptHealth's Compliance Program
- Responsible for cleaning equipment when assigned by supervisor or down time allows, following the Branch Maintenance and Cleaning Guidelines
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Problem solving skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge and understands OSHA, DOT, and FDA regulations.
- Knowledge of oxygen transportation requirements
- Ability to clean, test and repair home medical equipment.
- Accurately receive, stock, retrieve and load equipment and supplies.
- Work cooperatively with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities and tasks.
- Independent decision making
- Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Entry level sales, customer service background essential
- Military, delivery driver with sales component or health care technician experience would be considered related
- experience.
- One (1) year experience driving a stock truck of 26 feet or greater.
- Must have a current and unrestricted CDL driver's license with hazardous materials and air brakes endorsements.
- Current DOT Medical Examiners Certificate (DOT Medical Card).
