We strive to continuously improve our processes, coding standards, and patterns both as individual engineers and as a team to ensure that we’re always ready for the next challenge.About the RoleOur Android engineers work to maintain and add new features to our native Android Study app. This role will substantially contribute to our Android production codebase and test suite, and will work in tandem with our iOS engineers to produce a consistent experience across platforms. This can involve code review, participating in and leading technical kickoffs, and developing best practices. The role will also collaborate with our design team to implement a consistent and responsive UI that gels with both our product and the native OS look and feel. The right candidate will be focused not just on writing code, but being a great engineer, problem-solver, and teammate.What You Will Do
  • Develop and maintain our Android Study application and test suites
  • Work closely with iOS engineers to align our mobile experiences and architectural patterns across platforms
  • Collaborate with the design team to implement UX changes and inform them of platform-specific behavior
  • Ideate with PMs to flesh out technical requirements, risks, and complexity
  • Work with the larger engineering team to develop and iterate on our values, best practices, and code style guidelines
About YouWe’re looking for someone who has the following:Required:
  • 4+ years of native Android development experience in Kotlin
  • Strong knowledge of the Android platform SDK and Jetpack frameworks
  • XML-based layout proficiency
  • Experience deploying apps to the Play Store
Preferred:
  • Reactive architectural patterns/RxJava proficiency
  • JUnit and Espresso framework proficiency
  • Familiarity with Android accessibility best practices
  • Familiarity with iOS platform and Swift language
