As a Special Education Teacher, you'll play a pivotal role in helping students with diverse learning abilities thrive and reach their full potential.Your RoleAs a Special Education Teacher in the evolving Trenton community, you'll be an advocate for inclusivity, empathy, and growth. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's strengths, needs, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Collaborating with students, families, and a team of professionals to create a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Integrating culturally responsive teaching practices to ensure that curriculum and instructional strategies reflect the diverse identities of our students.
  • Providing targeted support and accommodations that empower students to overcome challenges and build essential life skills.
  • Building strong relationships within the community, connecting students and families with valuable resources and support networks.
QualificationsTo excel in this role, you should possess:
  • Or are eligible for NJ certification in Teacher of Students with disabilities and one other instructional certification
  • A deep understanding of culturally responsive teaching and a commitment to meeting the unique needs of students in our black and brown community.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a growth mindset to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
