We also leverage our expertise in vacuum technology to provide unique, toxic chemical analysis products for emergency response, security, and environmental health and safety.Job DescriptionThe Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for resolving issues related to assembly, test and logistical activities as well as identifying opportunities for streamlining existing processes. This individual will be directly involved in production line layouts, tooling, fixtures and equipment acquisitions. They should be strong at identifying inefficiencies in production processes and be able to propose & implement solutions that will lead to improvements. The successful candidate will engage with individuals in other functional roles, departments and across INFICON manufacturing locations. This Manufacturing Engineering position is a dynamic, active role that affords extensive exposure within Engineering and all associated Industrial interfaces.QualificationsEssential Job DutiesSpecific duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:
  • Identify inefficiencies within existing operations and propose and implement solutions.
  • Design and introduce assembly and test fixtures to improve both the quality, reliability and repeatability of production rates on existing processes and new production builds.
  • Work to improve first-pass yield in production areas by working to identify the primary causes of failures and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Organize and implement strategies based on KPIs to continually drive improvements with verifiable cost reductions and capacity increases.,
  • Identify design and test specifications that have been poorly defined or over-constrained and work with appropriate parties to better define the necessary specifications.
  • Develop, create and communicate production instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Work to ensure both internal and external customers are satisfied with the responses in dealing with the inevitable issues that arise in a manufacturing organization.
  • Work jointly on a near-daily basis with INFICON's technicians, operators, engineers, supply-chain and logistics teams.
  • Investigate and incorporate new production technologies, such as machine automation, in both existing activities and within development projects.

Education and/or Experience
  • BS in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of experience. Candidates with relevant industrial internships and minimal experience will be considered. Candidates with related Engineering degrees will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to design improvements into production test fixtures, equipment and methods.
  • Some experience in a high mix, dynamic manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience and / or desire to master industrial Enterprise Resource Planning systems (SAP preferred) on both a local and global level.
Additional InformationFor New York, the expected salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $110,000 per year. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit sharing bonus with a target of 10%.
