- Assists residents with bathing, grooming and personal activities of daily living as need. Includes: observing and monitoring dental hygiene, finger nail care, and assisting residents with shaving, dressing, ambulation, and eating.
- Helps maintain cleanliness of building; assists with cleaning, preparation and simple maintenance duties as assigned.
- Monitors and assists residents in the dining room at meal times; includes assisting cook/server and feeding residents.
- Assists with laundry as requested.
- Provides appropriate care for incontinent residents by changing undergarments/pads and following toileting schedule (minimum every two hours, and/or more frequently if needed) according to set standards and service plan.
- Checks each resident as directed and maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of resident.
- Provides medication assistance by following assisted living guidelines, if approved by delegating nurse.
- Reads communication book at the beginning of each shift.
- Arrives to work and punches in consistently and arrives to work area within 5 minutes of clocking in unless approved by supervisor.
- Notifies Home Leader and/or nurse of any changes in resident's condition, and significant incidents.
- Ensures that residents are ready to participate in scheduled activities, and participates with residents in activities programs as assigned.
- Keeps all doors secure and assures that keypads are operational and reports if security measure are not functioning properly.
- Attends change of shift report, dependent on work assignment.
- Actively participates in behavioral intervention meetings and provides consistent intervention according to service plan.
- Maintains clear walkways for safety inside the home.
- Understands fire escape plan; participates in emergency drills and assists residents according to policy, procedure and regulations.
- Responds to life saving situations based upon facility standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
- Attends and participates in facility meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Has the ability to maintain assigned work hours.
- Successfully completes the Medication Technician course.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to the three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current state Geriatric Nursing Assistant registration, current CPR certification and medication administration training, or be able to obtain.
