- Schedule procedures, input/submits surgical orders, laboratory and medical clearance requests into electronic or paper scheduling systems
- Schedule post-operative visits
- Counsel patients regarding procedures, logistics, and costs associated with surgery
- Verify and notate current patient medications in advance of surgery to explain impact of medications on the surgical process
- Maintain adequate contact with patients to help ensure comprehension of procedures, advising patients on technical aspects of the visit and surgery, answering questions about symptoms and disease processes
- Obtain insurance pre-authorization for procedures and medications. Obtainung payments as required. Explains the expected costs to patients. Communicates with insurance, patients, and other physicians' offices to obtain required referrals and approvals
- Document all contacts, insurance verifications, and all scheduling activity in patient charts, patient record systems, and internal calendars
- Prepare a daily surgery schedule sheet for all assigned physicians in surgery
- Verify insurance and benefit investigations as needed
- Other administrative tasks as assigned
- Master multiple computer systems including Google, MicrosoftOffice, Teams, data management, data entry and retrieval
- Knowledge of ophthalmology and retina terminology with strong ophthalmic technician experience
- Strong attention to detail, multitask effectively, minimizing errors for self and team
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with physicians, coworkers, and patients
- Strong interpersonal skills including effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution with warm encouraging demeanor

- Fluency in Spanish at a professional level
- Basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease processes/symptoms, typical tests for retinal procedures, and medications used in ophthalmic surgery
- Understanding of how common medications and diagnoses may require medical clearance for surgery
- Knowledge of billing and coding for tests, diagnosis, and procedures along with the insurance verification process
- Schedule assigned by supervisor, generally during weekdays 8 AM - 5 PM.
- Travel is rarely required.
- Hourly pay, FLSA non-exempt, eligible for overtime
- Position is work-from-home, must be based -in Austin, Texas
