- A high school diploma or the equivalent is required and additional electrical technical training is preferred.
- Candidates must successfully pass the EEI Construction and Skilled Trades Test (CAST) Test, an agility assessment, and a knowledge -based exam. An interview will also be held.
- The candidate will be required to have the ability to work extended hours, weekends, emergency responses and on call assignments.
- The successful candidate must live within 30 minutes of the reporting location.
Will be required to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and at times for extended periods.Have the ability to:
- stand a minimum of five to six hours on the ground – may be in a bucket on a line truck or at the top of a distribution pole
- sit for a minimum of two to three hours – may be driving a truck or sitting in a manhole or an underground vault
- move frequently to unload equipment and to install/maintain/repair equipment
- lift up and push/pull up to 75 pounds
- climb or use authorized equipment to reach various heights and breadths
- frequently and repetitively bend/stoop/squat
- differentiate between colors (color vision).
Ability to gain knowledge of:
- the methods, materials, and tools in line construction and maintenance work
- the principles of electric theory as applied to electrical circuits and wire systems
- the occupational hazards of the trade and of adequate and necessary safety precautions.
- light construction and maintenance equipment.
Ability to analyze and solve problems and to observe and interpret situations.
