OverviewHarperChristian Resources is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and highly values diverse backgrounds and insights that fuel our innovation.The Marketing Manager for HarperChristian Resources (HCR) leads the development and execution of Bible study curriculum marketing campaigns, focusing on key audiences of pastors, small group leaders, and people who do Bible study. This role creates marketing strategies and executes all marketing tactics for 20-25 new Bible study titles annually, achieving each title's sales goals, staying within each title's marketing budget, managing author and agent expectations and participation, and often collaborating with other HarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP) teams.Critical to this role is clear, timely communication as well as strong working relationships with authors and agents, sales reps and retailers, publishers and publisher marketing teams, and external partners. Our ideal candidate possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, high personal integrity, a strong work ethic, the ability to manage by influence, a high degree of attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines.ResponsibilitiesMarketing Plans and Strategy
  • Work with cross-functional partners including publishing, sales, Direct-to-Consumer, research/consumer insights, and others to deliver winning church, consumer, and retail marketing strategies for each title.
Working within each title's marketing budget, determine the appropriate marketing mix of social media, email, content marketing/SEO, lead and sales funnels, print advertising, online advertising, PR/media, and retail initiatives for each title.Tactical Execution
  • Manage creation of digital marketing tactics (online ads, emails, web pages, graphics, video ads, etc.) for internal and external email lists, blogs, affiliates, paid search, and social media marketing.
Work with the ChurchSource team to create and execute integrated marketing plans to reach pastors and church leaders.Write felt-need driven marketing copy, keywords, marketing video scripts, etc.Create audience-targeting, past-purchaser, and keyword campaigns on Amazon, Meta, Google/YouTube, Pinterest, etc.Oversee management of metadata projects (SEO & keyword strategy) with editorial.Monitor and track progress of digital ad campaigns and make real-time adjustments.Measure success, trends, and ROI of marketing initiatives.Communication
  • Communicate with editors and other internal marketing and sales teams to ensure marketing plans and author communications are cohesive, unified, and that authors fully understand our marketing support and our expectations of them.
Communicate expectations to authors and their teams to maximize marketing opportunities on authors' social media, website, email list, speaking events, etc.Work with key retailers to ensure maximum exposure for HCR authors.Manage day-to-day communication with partners & agencies, ensuring all parties are strategically aligned regarding campaigns and target audience, and remain on budget and on scheduleQualificationsWork Experience/Knowledge:
  • 4-5 years of marketing experience
Well-versed in a wide range of marketing tactics and best practicesWorking knowledge of direct response marketing tactics and design elementsEducation: Bachelor's degree in marketing, design, communication, or related fieldIndustry Knowledge:
  • Required:
Knowledgeable in digital marketing and analytics best practices.Understanding of marketing, brand management, and publicity.Preferred:Familiarity with book publishing.Experience in client-service role.Understanding of the church leadership world, pastor and church leader felt needs and mindset.Skills:
  • Strong communication skills-both external communication to potential purchasers, as well as internal communication to facilitate the planning and execution of marketing strategies with core constituents, including authors and agents.
