- Operate a battery operated backpack electro-fisher and associated equipment; use nets in stream to capture fish; enumerate fish and record data, such as species, length, weight, etc.
- Tag and mark fish using tags, such as PIT, VIE, coded wire, acoustic, radio, and genetic tags; clean and maintain equipment under supervision.
- Operate juvenile or adult fish traps and record data such as length, weight, sex, etc.; ensures that fish are handled in accordance with established guidelines and released unharmed.
- Collect routine water samples and records data, such as D.O., temperature, pH, etc. As member of harvest monitoring team, collect catch and harvest data through on-site monitoring of fishers interviews recording data, such as fishing effort, catch, species, weight, sex, etc.
- As member of spawning ground survey team conducts spawning ground survey by foot or boat, recording data, such as length, sex, species, etc. Transport and release juvenile and adult fishes, ensuring fish are properly maintained during transit. Perform routine maintenance of ground, building, and equipment.
- Abide by Yakama Nation Rules and Regulations.
- Knowledge of standard fisheries principles and procedures.
- Knowledge and skill in the operation of equipment and tools used in fisheries work.
- Ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to deal tactfully with the public.
- Ability to work outside under all types of conditions and to perform physical labor.
- Ability to record and keep orderly, accurate records.
- Ability to learn routine procedures and fisheries operations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- One year of experience as a Fish Technician I or equivalent level in natural resources field work required.
- Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
