The Survey Project Manager role offers the chance to lead diverse projects—from transportation corridors and land development to utility infrastructure and public works—while mentoring staff and driving innovation in geospatial services.🛠️ Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee survey projects from proposal through delivery
  • Coordinate field and office survey teams to ensure timely and accurate execution
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules in alignment with client expectations
  • Review and approve survey deliverables including plats, legal descriptions, topographic maps, and boundary surveys
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and internal stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to survey staff and CAD technicians
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, and construction teams to support multidisciplinary projects
  • Maintain quality control and ensure adherence to safety protocols in field operations
✅ Required Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering (PE) and/or Land Surveyor (PLS) license in California (or ability to obtain)
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in land surveying, including project management
  • Proficiency in survey software and equipment (Trimble, Leica, Civil 3D, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of boundary analysis, legal descriptions, and mapping standards
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills

  • Experience with transportation, utility, or public infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with GIS integration and drone/UAV survey technologies
  • Knowledge of Caltrans standards and procedures
  • Business development or proposal writing experience
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to team development

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
