BAE Systems is seeking a Vice President, Supply Chain for our Electronic Systems sector. The Electronic Systems (ES) sector spans the commercial and defense electronics markets with a broad portfolio of mission-critical electronic systems, including flight and engine controls; electronic warfare and night vision systems; surveillance and reconnaissance sensors; secure networked communications equipment; geospatial imagery intelligence products and systems; mission management; and power-and energy-management systems.The Vice President, Supply Chain leads the integrated supply chain and procurement for our Electronic Systems (ES) business segment. This role is responsible for over $3B of material spend across a footprint that spans a variety of electronics-based technology domains in both commercial and defense, as well as multiple cost account segments, business models, across the US, United Kingdom and Mexico. Functions of direct ownership include subcontracting, category management, procurement, compliance, new business and program execution, planning, inventory control, warehousing management, logistics, material management, and respective business processes, tools, and training.
Reporting to the ES Vice President, Operations, this position is a hybrid role and can be based at one of our major Electronic Systems locations: Nashua, NH; Fort Wayne, IN; Austin, TX; and Cedar Rapids, IA.Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement strategies to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with regulations while aligning supply chain strategies with overall business goals. Expand profit margins and improve business cash flow through innovative operational effectiveness practices.
- Support the development of “make vs. buy” strategies that synergize the capabilities and capacities of the broader BAE Systems enterprise as well as the global supply base.
- Drive the sector's sourcing and purchasing strategy including commodity management, vendor selection and evaluation, contract management, competitive sourcing, and material planning.
- Streamline and improve processes to ensure that the team is structured and resourced for success and profitability and drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Develop, implement, and direct policies, practices, and procedures in accordance with federal, commercial, state/local, and/or international procurement regulations.
- Develop and deploy a supply chain risk management to proactively identify and mitigate business risk.
- Drive the maturity of analytical tools and reports to effectively manage supply chain performance across the sector.
- Develop performance metrics and drive initiatives to ensure goals are met on schedule and at cost.
- Foster a culture of excellence by leading a high performing team who embrace a culture of teamwork, candor and accountability - ensuring a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Attract, develop and retain high performing talent and build future leaders through development, mentoring and modeling excellence.
- Partner with supply chain peers across the BAE Systems, Inc. enterprise with an extended global engagement. Additionally, they will hold a position on the regional and global supply chain councils.
- Establish and nurture relationships with key external partners including suppliers and vendors to negotiate contracts and pricing to drive business value.
- Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and industry best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Required experiences include the following
- Experience leading a large supply chain team with mixed volume within a complex manufacturing business with revenues of at least $2B across multiple sites in the aerospace/defense industry for both commercial and defense models.
- Requires outstanding leadership prowess, the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, and a proven ability to drive innovation through digital transformation and sustainability initiatives.
- Must understand and appreciate the goals of all aspects of the business and be committed to partnering with business leaders in creating a 'best for the enterprise' service delivery approach.
- Must have exceptional communication and listening skills with the ability to negotiate win-win solutions in a timely and decisive manner.
- Must be experienced establishing a vision, gaining cross-organizational support for that vision, and implementing that vision in a logical, methodical manner leveraging change management principles.
- Typically, a Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related discipline and a minimum of 15 years of experience with supply chain processes and systems.
- Must be willing to travel up to 35%.
- This role requires the ability to obtain a security clearance.
