COVENANT COLLEGE JOB POSTINGLicensed Family Nurse Practitioner and Director of Health ServicesSUMMARY DESCRIPTION:The Director of Health Services serves as both a Nurse Practitioner (or Physician's Assistant) and an administrator in the Priesthill Center for Health and Counseling Services. The position reports to the Vice President for Student Development and provides oversight to the office coordinator and registered nurse (RN).DUTIES:1. Diagnose and treat chronic and acute episodic illness2. Write prescriptions, perform and oversee ordering laboratory and diagnostic testing as needed3. Treat minor injuries and lacerations4. Perform health histories and administer medications and injections5. Recommend and refer to community resources to meet student needs 6. Oversee the administrative aspects of the Priesthill Health Center in terms of center development, budget, record keeping, and publicity while updating policies, standards and objectives annually6. Initiate communication to faculty members and to legal guardians in the event of a serious illness or injury of a currently enrolled student.7. Coordinate annual health fairs and develop and schedule seminars on health related issues 9. Provide or arrange first aid, CPR, and AED training to selected staff and students 10. Maintain and review current medical records on clients8. Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA9. Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested 13. Oversee the purchase of supplies as needed for the health center10. Compile necessary reports/statistical data concerning care provided at the center11. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations 16. Develop policies and procedures for the health center; act as a resource person for decisions, planning and policies affecting the health of students12. Fulfill such other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student DevelopmentRELATED RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Supervise and evaluate the Office Coordinator and RN2. Coordinate care with campus counselors3. Provide the Covenant College community with relevant health information and education on a regular basis4. Monitor immunization compliance for incoming students.REQUIREMENTS:1. An acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.2. Master's Degree (MS) or Master of Science in Nursing degree (MSN)3. Board Certification or eligible for Board Certification as a licensed nurse practitioner (or physician's assistant) in the state of Georgia4. A minimum of three to five years experience as a nurse practitioner (or physician's assistant) in a clinical setting is preferred.5. A solid understanding of the commitments of Covenant as a Christian liberal arts college. 6. A clear understanding of and commitment to the doctrinal standards of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).6. Must be able to assent to Covenant College's Staff Commitments.7. A concern for young adults and the ability to communicate with them effectively. 9. High degree of personal and professional self awareness and the ability to deal responsibly with confidential mattersWORK ENVIRONMENT:This job is expected to be performed on campus unless otherwise directed or arranged. Theworkplace environment for this position will primarily be a professional office setting.
