A leading carbon utilization company is seeking a Control Systems / Electrical Engineer to design, implement, and optimize electrical and instrumentation systems that enable safe, efficient, and sustainable operations. Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Temp-to-HireResponsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain control systems, instrumentation, and electrical equipment.
  • Configure, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, DCS, and related automation systems.
  • Develop and review electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and startup of control and electrical systems.
  • Monitor system performance and perform preventive maintenance to ensure reliability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for system failures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to improve system efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Prepare technical documentation, user manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews and ensure proper documentation of system modifications.
  • Provide technical support during shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency troubleshooting.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in controls, instrumentation, or electrical engineering in an industrial environment
  • Experience with industrial automation, SCADA systems, or field instrumentation is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, ISA, and IEC standards
  • PE license or EIT certification is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, process instrumentation, and automation systems
  • Proficiency in PLC/DCS programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell, or similar)
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to proficiently speak and write English
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or in the field
  • Must be able to walk, bend, climb stairs, and access elevated platforms in industrial settings
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection
  • Must be able to work in environments with exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Must be able to travel domestically or internationally as required by project needs
  • Must be able to respond to operational needs outside of standard business hours when necessary
