Job Description:This role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by: helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items, helping members prepare for and respond to disasters; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus furthering the mission of the Church.Performs working level duties in receiving, stores, and/or shipping functions. Stocks material/commodities in a neat, orderly way; receives, inspects, and counts incoming material/commodities; rejects damaged items, records shortages, reviews, and interprets accompanying documentation; maintains records of stock received/shipped; and/or moves materials/ commodities between locations. Operates material handling, forklift, and packaging equipment.Responsibilities:
  • Initiates, sorts, prioritizes, allocates, and monitors daily production workload
  • Receives stock from suppliers. Is responsible for Inventory Control.
  • Prepares pallets for shipment. Loads and unloads trucks
  • Operates various material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach-lifts. May drive cars and trucks which requires appropriate valid operator license.
  • Coordinates material receipt, movement, and inventory control with vendors and departments. Reviews and interprets documentation used in inventory control. Maintains a computer-based inventory control system for all items.
  • Operates computer equipment to ensure inventory control and monitor warehouse activities
  • Reviews and interprets documentation accompanying shipments and checks for damaged items.
  • Records shortages and follows up with suppliers to rectify damages and shortages. May assist in inventory counts.
  • Training/Supervision: Provides lead direction for Church Service missionaries, volunteers and welfare recipients in warehousing practices and corresponding safety in handling storehouse commodities.
  • Maintains material handling equipment and keeps appropriate records. Performs building and grounds maintenance.
Qualifications:Requires a High school diploma with intermediate computer skills and basic math skills, and at least 2 years previous warehousing, material handling, or related work experience. Preference will be given to those who have internal Church warehousing experience.Experience in operating motorized material handling equipment including reach-lifts. Must be able to read and understand English. Must be able to physically lift/move/push/pull items (up to 50 lbs. alone or occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. with two people), climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps to store/retrieve items, and operate a pallet jack containing up to 2500 lbs. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, training, and leadership skills.
