Sr. Office 365 Engineer

Overview:
  • The Sr Office 365 Engineer will primarily be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting all components of the Office 365 environment, specifically: Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams. This role will assist in the design and implementation of the Office 365 governance and roadmap strategy and serve as an escalation point for trouble tickets.
  • This role reports to the Director of Communications and Collaboration within the Employee Productivity Services organization
In this role, you will:
  • Exhibits technical experience focused on driving adoption of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Possesses a broad knowledge of key end-user scenarios and technical architecture for Office 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint online, OneDrive, Teams and other Office 365 products.
  • Leads Office 365 projects that include configuration, implementation, and migration to Office 365 capabilities as well as supporting change management requirements
  • Acts as the primary contact for service escalations and issues troubleshooting, providing third-level support
  • Performs and oversees the ongoing administration and account maintenance of the Office 365 tenant.
  • Evaluate Office 365 changes & updates and determine impact on clients
  • Demonstrates knowledge of modern enterprise architectures, identity and authentication services, and security and compliance topics as they pertain to cloud infrastructures.
  • Conducts research, makes evaluations and recommendations, and maintains a high level of expertise in systems software to ensure departmental operations and operating environment are of the highest quality.
  • Supports the development of the Office 365 strategy and roadmap deliverables
  • Ability to solve problems quickly, develop workflow and processes for operation teams, and automate processes through writing and maintaining custom PowerShell scripts to remediate any open issues.
  • Analyzes Office 365 service reports, auditing log and third-party service reports.
  • Participates in employee development through training and technology transfer to existing technical support team members.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures and regulations to ensure safe and sound business operations. Develops and implements software and configurations to apply appropriate system security mechanisms.
  • Maintain awareness of Office 365 roadmap and releases
  • Experience working on both Agile and Waterfall project delivery
A successful candidate will have the following characteristics:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science of equivalent field of study
  • 10+ years of IT or consulting work experience is preferred
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Office 365: Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Teams
  • Knowledge and experience troubleshooting these platforms: Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, SMTP\\Mail Relay, Outlook client configuration and PowerShell
  • Demonstrated experience in architectural design, development, migration, management and support of Office 365 implementations
  • In depth understanding of the capabilities of Office 365
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Exchange services, design and topology.
  • Demonstrated experience with Office 365 security single sign-on and multi-factor authentication
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple activities simultaneously
  • Proven experience with Teams (including voice) services, design and topology is strongly desired but not required
  • Microsoft Certifications, such as Office 365 MCSA, MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure or equivalent are a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Cloud technologies, including, Intune, Azure Rights Management, Azure Active Directory
