Position Overview: As an Entry Level Estimator for our Division 8 Glass and Glazing scope, you will play a pivotal role in assisting with project estimation and bidding processes. Whether you’re passionate about construction or looking for a career change, this position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals to develop their skills in estimating within a dynamic and supportive environment. This position requires a combination of people interaction and individual computer work. To be successful you will need to be technically minded, detail oriented, and diligent at seeing processes through. Although there are many team components to the role, most of the tasks involved is solo worked - to enjoy this position you must be comfortable with both!
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in Project Analysis: Collaborate with project managers and senior estimators to review project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
2. Material Takeoff: Conduct material takeoffs accurately and efficiently, ensuring all necessary materials for metal panel and roofing installations are accounted for in the estimation process.
3. Cost Estimation: Utilize company databases, historical data, and industry benchmarks to estimate costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services required for each project.
4. Prepare Bids and Proposals: Assist in the preparation of comprehensive bids and proposals, ensuring all cost elements are accurately reflected and presented professionally to clients.5. Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and coordinate delivery schedules to support project timelines and budget requirements.
6. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain organized records of project estimates, bids, and related documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
7. Support Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and field personnel, to provide accurate and timely support throughout the project lifecycle.
8. Stay Updated on Industry Trends: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements relevant to Glass and Glazing scope, and incorporate relevant insights into estimation processes.
Preferred but not required qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
2. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift).
5. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
6. Eagerness to learn and develop skills in construction estimating.
7. Prior internship or coursework in construction estimating is a plus.
