- Review and interpret design drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications.
- Determine required materials, finishes, hardware, and fabrication methods for each project.
- Calculate labor hours for in-house fabrication, finishing, assembly, and installation.
- Identify and recommend value engineering opportunities without compromising design intent.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotes for specialty materials, outsourced fabrication, and services.
- Maintain strong relationships with key vendors to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
- Prepare detailed, itemized cost breakdowns for sales and project management teams.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings to clarify scope, design intent, and deliverables.
- Ensure all estimates meet client requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
- Maintain historical cost databases to enhance estimate accuracy over time.
- Analyze completed project costs versus estimates to identify areas for improvement.
- Work closely with design, engineering, and project management teams to ensure technical feasibility and budget alignment.
- Support change order pricing and assist with client negotiations as needed.
- Provide mechanical engineering assistance when required to support project execution and problem-solving.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in architectural millwork, custom retail display, cabinetry manufacturing, or a related fabrication industry.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting CAD drawings, 3D renderings, and technical documentation.
- Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and spatial reasoning abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in cost calculations.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Clear and professional communication skills for both internal and client-facing interactions.
- Ability to assist in mechanical engineering tasks when necessary.
