Our organization has tripled its size in the last 5 years and to support our transformation and growth, we are seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Production Team in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. About the Opportunity. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Quality Appraisal Specialist is responsible for the QC Laboratory and will perform the physical, attribute and raw material testing in order to assess the quality characteristics of products manufactured on the production machines. Additionally, the incumbent will provide communication and instructions to Manufacturing, Converting and support areas regarding disposition of non-conforming product. Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in physical, attribute, and raw material testing required to assess the quality of products manufactured on the production machines• Interprets grade specifications adequately with little or no assistance
- Perform attribute inspections as required
- Performs various specialized testing or auditing duties as assigned
- Assists with other production or plant projects, as needed
- Utilizing a knife, obtain samples at the production machines
- Accepts or places product on quality-hold, based on test results and specified properties
- Utilizes and calibrates lab testing equipment correctly
- Attends training to maintain laboratory performance and to ensure compliance with requirements
- Maintains the laboratory as outlined in organizational standards
- Assures conformance to site safety and environmental procedures and adheres to safety procedures in all other departments and areas on site
- Ensures accurate documentation of worksheets and reports Minimum Occupational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- At least 4 years of previous quality testing and inspection experience, preferred
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferred
- Understanding of AM and SOU grades
- Capable of utilizing safe and proper procedures when using laboratory testing instruments and equipment
- Ability to use and understand Optimill systems (CarelLab, CarelMill, Ahlflow)
- Familiarity using personal computers required, preferably Windows products
- Able to multitask and prioritize
