- Payroll Tax Compliance:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll taxes in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations with our tax vendor ADP.
- Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Tax Filings:
- Initiate all required payroll tax files from Workday payroll system to ADP tax vendor, including quarterly and annual returns to include W-2s.
- File Multi-Worksite quarterly reporting.
- Reconcile and verify tax filings to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Partner with ADP Tax vendor account representative to coordinate any amendments when necessary and responses to notices.
- Setup of any new jurisdictions due to expansion of business.
- Updating of unemployment rates annually.
- Research and Analysis:
- Conduct research on complex tax issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Analyze payroll tax data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential areas for improvement.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal teams, including HR and Accounting, to ensure accurate reporting and resolve payroll tax-related issues.
- Communicate effectively with external agencies, tax authorities, and vendors.
- Work with associates on any tax adjustments. Entry of all tax adjustments in payroll system.
- Audits:
- Assist in preparing for and participating in payroll tax audits.
- Respond to audit inquiries and provide necessary documentation.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in payroll tax procedures.
- Implement best practices to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of payroll tax processes.
- Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder’s supervisor, may also be required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field and/or equivalent training and work experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in payroll tax administration
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Advanced PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including excel (VLOOKUPs, formulas, pivot tables, graphing).
- Experience with ADP Smart Compliance
- Must be a results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
- Analytic and Reporting skills
- Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment
- Knowledge of Canadian Payroll Tax
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or other relevant certifications
- Workday system experience preferred
- Able to handle large chunks of data from multiple sources
