Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Office of State Lands and Investments (OSLI), an agency committed to effectively managing natural resources and funds for current and future generations, is seeking a Field Supervisor in the Field Services Division to promote effective and proactive land management practices and ensure overall lease compliance for the preservation and enhancement of state trust asset values and the optimization of trust revenue for current and future beneficiaries.This position is located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Cheyenne is a full-service community home to over 60,000 residents. Cheyenne is near four-season outdoor recreation areas, including the Snowy Range and the Medicine Bow National Forest, and home to world-class rock climbing at Vedauwoo. Also, the location provides convenient access to the Colorado Front Range communities, including Fort Collins Denver, and Denver International Airport.   • Leads, supports, and contributes to the field team responsible for conducting efficient, thorough, and timely inspections and providing reports and recommendations on various agency leases.
Facilitates the usage of multiple database systems to document and communicate inspections, reviews, and reports.Ensures regular monitoring of trust lands and dissemination of issues to appropriate personnel.Collaborates with all agency divisions to ensure total program compliance.Manages recreational access to state trust lands through signage, information updates, and board recommendations.Communicates with the public, lessees, operators, and others to provide information on and resolve conflicts related to the uses of state trust land.Ensures agency participation in pertinent collaborative and local land management processes.Serves as the primary point of contact for various federal, state, and local government entities.Ensures active and engaged oversight of the agency's acquired properties.Facilitates and supervises trust preservation and enhancement projects.Coordinates activities related to weed and pest activities on state trust lands.Makes presentations at public meetings.Makes independent judgment of compliance through inspections and interpretations of regulations and reports.Answers technical questions related to policies, procedures, and statutes.Investigate and oversee complaints and projects.Researches records and provides information to the public. Applies and interprets complex rules, regulations, guidelines, or standards.QualificationsPREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:**Must have a valid Driver's License.KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of state and federal regulations with the ability to understand and apply policies.Knowledge of natural resources management including rangeland management.Knowledge of energy development operations (oil and gas, coal, minerals, etc.).Skills in effective oral and written communication.Skills using Microsoft Office, Google apps, and ArcGIS.Skills in plant identification and rangeland assessment.Ability to read, research, interpret, and apply state policies and procedures.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelor's Degree (typically in The Sciences)Experience:1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in The Sciences) with acquired knowledge at the level of a(n) Natural Resources AnalystOREducation & Experience Substitution:4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in The Sciences) with acquired knowledge at the level of a(n) Natural Resources AnalystCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:NoneNecessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Some statewide travel is required for this position in conjunction with a typical office setting.
  • Occasionally traverse open/rugged/steep terrain on foot.
  • Occasionally perform arduous physical activity.
  • Occasionally travel overnight.
  • Must be able to operate 4WD vehicles in remote/isolated locations.
  • Must be able to operate ATVs on rugged terrain.
