The Medical Assistant assists providers and nurses with patient care, initiates patient flow, maintains the environmental areas of the clinic and examination rooms, entries into patient charts through EHR, assists with telephoning. We do on the job training!POSITION STATUSThis position is full-time and non-exempt. The Medical Assistant reports to the Clinical Director.QUALIFICATIONSCOVID-19 VaccinationsEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredKnowledge of adult and/or pediatric office practiceElectronic Health Records experience helpfulCompetenciesKnowledge of adult and/or pediatric office practiceModerate proficiency with medical equipmentModerate proficiency with computerHigh proficiency in telephone skillAbility to speak and write fluently in English; Spanish desirableAverage numerical and verbal capacityInterest in work involving considerable contact with peopleAbility to follow established procedures and maintain high level of organizationAbility to handle most setbacks with calmness and easeAbility to maintain confidentialityPhysical RequirementsModerate physical exertion including frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying moderately heavy loads(up to 25 lbs.)Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues, contagious diseases and/or otherpotentially hazardous materialsFine motor coordination sufficient to perform manipulative skillsAbility to stand for extended periods of time, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to deliver medicalservices and use equipment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESMust be passionate about a career in the healthcare field that offers on the job training and direct patient care!Prepares patient for examination, takes height, weight, blood pressure and other measurements as applicableTakes initial medical information including medication historyAssists in performing waived laboratory testsMakes correct entries in patient charts and checks appointment datesAssists patients to examination rooms, lab and restroomsRestocks and straightens exam roomsPerforms quality assurance on glucometersMakes copies and faxes documents as requestedPerforms other duties as required'
