
Field Service Engineer - Electrical

- Timely and accurate completion of service reports, timesheets and expense reports following service assignments per Work Order
- Production and updates to As-Built Documentation
- Developing own qualifications through internal/external training course
- Provide preventative and corrective maintenance to Kongsberg control systems OR Service onboard vessels with KM Systems
- Able to work with a team of Field Service Engineers on new builds, commissioning, and refit/retrofit upgrades.
- Execute service assignments as requested by the customer
- Troubleshooting via Phone and Email support lines
- Read and interpret drawings and controls system architecture
- Use of a multimeter/SW tools for troubleshooting communication or loop errors
- Understanding of Power Management Systems, generator, and governor control functionality
- Able to add or modify control logic
- Interface with customer and internal engineering groups
- Familiar with Serial and Network communication protocols: profibus, TCP/IP, modbus, etc, CAN, 232,422,485, TCP/IP, etc)
- Complete and submit timesheets and expenses in a timely fashion
- Ownership over assigned cases and/or service trips
- Suggest improvements to our products and report needs to Service Manager or product department
- Proactively suggest to customers available upgrades/new products while onboard
- Carry out actions to prevent errors within our delivery and after sales deliveries
- Support Key Support Managers with aftersales quotations and technical information
- AC/DC electrical motors
- Troubleshoot and modify to HVAC and Fire & Gas control systems (Autronica)
- PC competency (networking, troubleshooting, module modification)
- Use of electrical and hydraulic pressure measurement tools
- Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical, or Computer Engineering or
- equivalent industry/military training
- Knowledge of general Electrical/Electronic control system concepts such as PID controllers, filters, communication protocols.
- Ability to produce and interpret technical documentation
- Ability to troubleshoot low voltage electrical components, use of multimeters, etc.
- Experience with PLC / SCADA systems and their architecture is highly desired
- Customer service oriented
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good communication skills and fluent in English
- Microsoft 365 package user level
- Hold a valid passport as this role requires the ability to travel internationally
- Authorized to work lawfully in the US without company sponsorship
- Availability to travel up to 50% -70% with short notice, after hours, holidays/weekend, for long periods both locally and internationally
- Working knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical process, Must be Hands-On and curious
