Generates and distributes surgery schedules to selected departments throughout the facility. Assumes responsibility for telephone communications and general clerical functions. Corresponds with assigned charge nurses to ensure fluency of scheduled surgical cases and overall throughput of the day.Job Requirements:Education and Work Experience:
  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate's/Technical Degree in healthcare or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Five years' technical experience: Preferred
Essential Functions:
  • Maintains accurate files, nursing unit correspondence, forms and logs. Maintains and distributes up-to-date reports, stats and other resources, as requested.
  • Develops accurate case schedules and distributes to units for daily planning. Provides medical and nursing staff with data in a timely manner. Collaborates with nursing units to optimize throughput and overall care quality.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of ongoing operative information systems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Answers phones and provides reports to appropriate personnel. Dispatches phone calls, prioritizing nursing department needs. Discusses patient scheduling and special needs with charge nurses.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
