
Fleet Safety Driver Trainer

- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including DOT, FMCSA, Federal and State laws.
- Conduct Driver Road Tests- New hire and remedial.
- Assist locations with questions pertaining to the policy and procedures of DOT rules and company policy.
- Maintain accurate records of driver training.
- Identify risk and take immediate action to correct behavior.
- Teach Specialized Training Courses - Smith System and other defensive driving courses. Teach drivers in the correct operation of company vehicles to include daily vehicle inspections. Teach and demonstrate the use of company provided technology associated with vehicles. Teach load securement training.
- Monitor and analyze driver data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Assist in developing and implementing fleet safety policies and procedures.
- Determine whether new and existing drivers meet the Yancey Bros. Co. driving policies and standards and is eligible to drive for Yancey Bros. Co..
- Strong knowledge of company policy and procedures.
- Provide support with analysis of HOS, Safety and Maintenance compliance with applicable law and company policy.
- Work with outside vendors as needed.
- Participate in monthly safety site meetings with drivers and managers.

- The knowledge, skills, and abilities are acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
- 3 years of experience in a dedicated CDL driver role within the commercial trucking industry.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with an unwavering attention to detail and accuracy.
- No at fault traffic accidents and a clear driver history (MVR) for a past 3-year record.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license from the state of residence.
- Certified as a Smith System Driver Instructor or other approved driver course.
- Strong understanding of Federal rules pertaining to driver’s Hours of Service requirements.
- Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with drivers, management, external vendors, and regulatory agencies.
- Written communication skills, with the ability to read and interpret documents (such as instructions and policy/procedure manuals) as well as write reports and correspondence.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and volume.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and fleet operations.
- In-depth, knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations applicable to motor carriers.
- Understanding and practical application of accident investigation techniques.
- Strong training, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex regulatory information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in using safety management software, and telematics systems for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of Vehicle telematics and video hardware. The ability to install and trouble shot defect hardware.
