THOR Solutions is actively seeking an experienced Prospective Engineering Officer Contractor Instructor (PEO CI) to support Surface Warfare Officer School (SWOS) and PMS 339 Specialized Engineering in Newport, RI.Typical Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction, operation, testing, remediation, curriculum support (includes updates and maintenance of curriculum), administration, safety, and management support services for formalized naval training.
  • Perform training services involving DDG-1000 main propulsion, electrical, auxiliaries, and damage control instruction and remediation. Specifically:
  • Teach Senior and Junior Officers Engineering equipment onboard DDG1000 class ships.
  • Verify and Update course curriculum.
  • Make and edit exams.
  • Able to assist in other ship platforms for Junior Officers.
  • Able to travel to accommodate ship rides to San Diego and Mississippi.
Location: Onsite at Surface Warfare Officer School (SWOS) in Newport, RI.Travel: Up to 25% travel anticipated to support ship ride schedules in locations including San Diego and Mississippi.Typical Physical Activity: Desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. Training/instructor work in a classroom or shipboard environment. May involve: hearing, talking, traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches), or vision.Secret Security Clearance Eligibility Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either already possess an active full or interim Secret security clearance OR be eligible to obtain one upon here, AND maintain it for the duration of employment.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be a former U.S. Navy Senior Surface Ship (E-7) Gas Turbine Electrical (GSE); OR (E-8 - E-9) GS, or similar rating; OR be either a former Engineer Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant, or Electrical Officer aboard a DDG1000, LHD-8, or LHA-6 class ship.
  • Graduate of Prospective Engineering Officer Common Core (A-4H-2345); OR Senior Enlisted Propulsion Engineering Course (A-651-0110).
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge in the areas of maintaining and operating gas turbine systems and high voltage (4160 Hz) systems.
  • Graduate of the Navy Instructor Training Course (CIN: A-012-0077) (NEC 9502) or equivalent instructor training course.
  • Possess at least three (3) years’ technical experience instructing one or more of the following courses:
  • SWO Prospective Engineering Officer DDG 1000 (A-4H-7201)
  • SWO Shipride (A-e (A-4H-0503)
  • SWO Prospective Engineering Officer Cruiser (A-4H-0013)
  • SWO Major Command (A-e (A-4H-0503)
  • Proficiency with common productivity software including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Master Training Specialist (MTS)
  • Gas Turbine Platform EOOW letter
  • DDG 1000 experience
  • High Voltage electricity experience
  • Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
