Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Shift Manager Operations at our Burns Harbor, Indiana operation. This role is responsible for coordinating daily activities in the operation site, supervising hourly crews and improving overall efficiency by proper utilization of the resources and all of its components. The ideal candidate will have previous experience supervising employees in a manufacturing environment.Summary of Responsibilities
  • Schedules routine activities. Supervises completion of work assignments and follows established department plans.
  • Maintains general discipline of the crew in meeting the daily production, safety and quality objectives. Instructs personnel in job requirements, company rules and practices.
  • Coordinates production and maintenance activities with different departments, assists in developing continuous improvement plans.
  • Monitors site's operation, adheres to safety, environmental, quality, and productivity performance standards and performs regular audits.
  • Leads employees' training and performance review programs. Improves overall production, processes and services efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • 2-5 years supervising employees in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work overtime, rotating shifts, holidays and weekends.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Steel manufacturing experiences preferred.
