- Codes, tests, debugs, implements, and creates appropriate documentation in work assignments such as program code, and technical documentation.
- Gathers information from existing systems, analyzes program and time requirements. Assists project manager in preparing time estimates and justification for assigned tasks.
- Designs programs for projects or enhancements to existing programs.
- Provides technical advice on complex programming.
- Develops test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs.
- Conducts quality assurance activities such as peer reviews.
- Remains abreast of industry technical trends and new development to maintain current skills and remain current with industry standards.
- Provide input to Project Leaders in estimating scope/cost of projects, budget planning, communicating status, prioritizing & mitigating risk, escalating & ownership of all issues, and using standard PMO methodology.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience in Computer Science
- 5+ years of strong mainframe COBOL programming skills (COBOL, CICS, JCL, Syncsort, File-AID, VSAM, IDCAMS, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, SQL, FTP/SFTP)
- 5+ years performing tasks in the Systems development life cycle.
- Communication skills to work effectively with team members, support personnel, and clients.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for design, creation and testing of programs.
- Ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of mainframe administration system CLOAS.
- Experience working with Reinsurance systems and processes.
- Knowledge of the Insurance Industry specifically LIFE or LTC.
- TAI or Re-Insurance experience.
