Join us and be part of a purpose-driven company known for delivering quality, building trust, and treating people right.OverviewWe are seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead and execute a broad range of Human Resources functions with a focus on organizational development, training and development, performance management, employee relations, talent acquisitions and onboarding, and compensation and benefits. This is an exempt position and reports to the CFO. It is based out of our Redmond, WA headquarters and is a fully in-office role. Our office is open from 6am-5pm; team members have flexibility with their daily work schedule, based on their needs and the needs of their team and the work.ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of an Human Resources Manager fall under the following areas.Organizational Development
  • Support and champion a culture that embodies Sequoyah’s Core Ideology (core purpose, vision, mission and values)
  • Provide support to the President and Senior Management in pursuit of successful implementation of company initiatives and business plan
  • Identify opportunities for enhancement of company culture, employee relations and environment based on employee and organizational feedback
  • Demonstrate leadership that inspires and motivates others to perform well
  • Support company-wide community engagement efforts and relationship building activities; Support university outreach program including teaching and promotional opportunities
Training and Development
  • Partner with Senior Management to identify and establish strategies for meeting Sequoyah’s Training and Development Initiative objectives. Work with internal Subject Matter Experts [SMEs] and Senior Management to effectively align training programs with key business objectives.
  • Oversee and support curriculum development and/or facilitate training in support of the training priorities, initiatives and objectives established year over year [such as Safety, PE / PM competencies, Field Supervisor competencies, general HR topics, Leadership Development, and other soft and technical skills training].
  • Coordinate content approval as needed by key stakeholders; Assist with process of identifying participants for trainings listed above
  • Develop and implement company-wide Employee Development Program which may include a structured mentorship and coaching plan for employees; Coach employees when appropriate
Performance Management
  • Develop and implement performance management process to align with culture and company
  • Educate managers on performance management process
  • Educate, monitor and advise managers on the progressive discipline system of the company
  • Work with the managers to understand the company performance improvement policy and procedure and how it should be applied
  • Monitor the implementation of Performance Improvement Plan process with non-performing employees
Employee Relations
  • Partner with Senior Management to design and implement employee recognition and reward programs in accordance with key business plan objectives
  • Partner with Senior Management to develop programs that increase employee engagement and retention
  • Serve as a resource to assist with addressing and resolving personnel concerns
  • Ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, documented and communicated
  • Conduct HR investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth
  • Make the Employee Handbook a “living” document through employee orientation, update meetings, education
  • Prevent discrimination in employment and HR actions and discourage unfair work practices
  • Review and guide actions around employee terminations
  • Administer annual reporting requirements such as EEO-1 and AAP
Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Educate hiring managers on the laws that affect their role in the hiring process
  • Ensure hiring and employment decisions are compliant with local and federal laws
  • Develop and lead employee assimilation program to include new hire orientation process in partnership with hiring manager
Compensation and Benefits
  • Partner with Senior Management to identify and establish strategies for meeting Sequoyah’s compensation and benefits goals
  • Conduct market analysis; make recommendations on salary ranges and benefits
  • Lead employee education process during benefits open enrollment
QualificationsThe role requires 10+ years of HR related experience, a bachelor’s degree preferably in Human Resources or a related field and knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations. PHR or SPHR; SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly preferred.Additional qualifications for this role include experience with HRIS and ATS software as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.Skills and AbilitiesSuccess in this role requires strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, inspire, and build trust across all levels of the organization.Other skills and abilities include:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport and credibility

  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict effectively and conduct impartial investigations
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to coach, mentor, and develop others
  • In-depth knowledge of current employment laws and HR best practices
  • Proficiency in analyzing data to inform HR strategies, including compensation benchmarking and employee engagement metrics
  • Ability to facilitate training and development programs tailored to various employee levels and functions
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership, managers, and staff
  • Adaptable and innovative with a continuous improvement mindset
