Surgical CoderGeneral DescriptionResponsibilities include surgical coding for a large Orthopaedic practice. Maintains and expands knowledge of coding and sequencing guidelines to ensure that all healthcare information is accurately assigned the appropriate CPT and ICD-10CM codes, according to coding and reimbursement guidelines.Responsibilities:· Manages Orthopaedic surgical coding, ensuring that all phases of the medical billing process are completed in a timely manner according to Company standards.· Stays current on all orthopaedic coding guidelines and maintains professional licensure and credentials as necessary.· Handles confidential information regarding patient records with knowledge of release of information policies.· Contacts physicians as needed to clarify documentation to ensure coding and billing accuracy.· Assist Surgical Coordinators on coding practices and conventions in order to provide detailed coding information.· Participate in the development of coding policies and procedures as identified.· Coordinate, assist, and mentor the work of designated coding employees to ensure quality and quantity of work performed through regular audits.Qualifications:· Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
