OVERVIEW: The Seattle Art Museum is looking for a seasoned marketing professional to lead the implementation of integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns across social, digital, email, and traditional that drive brand awareness, increase ticket sales, and enhance SAM’s reputation locally and nationally.The Associate Director of Marketing will oversee the digital strategy including the development, tracking, and optimization of marketing campaigns across digital channels including social media, web/blog, email, and organic/paid search via Google Ads/Google Grant.The ideal candidate will also be well-versed in traditional marketing campaigns, strategic partnerships, communication strategies, project management, budget management and team supervision.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be passionate about developing strategic marketing strategies that connect the community to SAM’s mission and core values. REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing & Communications
COMPENSATION:$85- $95K Annual DOE
BENEFITS: Full time employees are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance/LTD/AD&D. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 403b plan. Employees will also receive ten days of sick leave and ten days of vacation leave every year, twelve paid holidays and one floating holiday throughout the calendar year. Additional benefits include subsidized transportation (ORCA business passport), access to fitness facility, and museum membership.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Execute short- and long-term strategic marketing plans to hit revenue targets, attendance goals, and reach new audiences. This includes evaluating performance and advising on strategy adjustments.
  • Assist with supervising a dynamic, efficient, collaborative and highly creative cross-functional marketing team through excellent leadership, interpersonal communication, and management skills.
  • Maintain and support the growth of digital marketing channels including social media, web/blog, email, and organic/paid search via Google Ads/Google Grant.
  • Execute email marketing/remarketing and lead-generation campaigns including list segmentation, pre-deployment testing, and integration/optimization with ticketing platforms to increase attributable revenue
  • Manage digital agency as budgeted to meet digital marketing priorities.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and report effectiveness of organic efforts and paid campaigns to help evolve ongoing digital marketing strategy.
  • Manage and track annual departmental marketing budgets and resource allocation to ensure campaigns budgets are maximized and maintained.
  • Manage the Marketing Project Manager to develop, implement and monitor systems, procedures, and cross-departmental processes to ensure smooth operation of the marketing function.
  • Lead management of critical projects with internal partners including membership and development initiatives.
  • Partner with Visitor Experience team to further develop data collection/analytics tools and establish ongoing reporting process of audience and visitor demographics.
  • Manage three direct reports, providing day to day support and high-level management to create an efficient and collaborative working environment.
  • Represent marketing and communications team in cross-departmental planning and program meetings.
  • Assist Director of Marketing & Communication to develop presentations for leadership, board of trustees, and all-staff.
  • Work with enterprise and departmental tools to organize and share deliverables, including Tessitura (CRM), Asana, Canto, Sharepoint, Wordpress, Restream, Google drive, Sprout, Semrush and Rev.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: * BA/BS in journalism, communications, public relations, public engagement or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of Marketing/Communications or equivalent related experience. 5+ years in a management capacity.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing multi-channel marketing campaigns, including digital, print, and social media.
  • Experience with leveraging metrics and data to strategically shape marketing efforts.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing numerous projects end-to-end.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral & written communications skills; strong track record in exercising sound, timely judgment; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with high level executives, other management staff, employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and partner organizations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy in using MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and other software programs. Solid familiarity with project management platforms including Asana.
  • Proven ability to track budgets, analyze data, and drive results-oriented decision-making.
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work successfully with a high degree of ambiguity. Ability to apply and adapt practices and techniques to the special requirements of the Museum senior management.
  • Ability to work with close attention to detail and to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to adhere to Museum policies and support management decisions in a positive, professional manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure: Work areas are primarily inside, in a climate-controlled environment with light background noise. Work is occasionally performed at other indoor and outdoor sites.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED FOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Stationary Work: Approximately 80% of time is spent stationary while working at a desk. Balance of time (approximately 20%) is spent moving around the work area. Occasional extended periods of standing may be required when assisting at Museum events.
Communication: Clear and effective communication with volunteers, donors, members, the public, and co-workers is necessary.
Vision: Corrected vision close to 20/20 is necessary to effectively use the computer screens.
Moving: The ability to move up to twenty pounds on occasion is necessary for moving files, equipment, and supplies. Must be able to regularly position self to access files.
Office Work: Ability to effectively and regularly operate a computer, keyboard, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and printers, and ability to inspect, prepare and use paperwork, files, equipment, and supplies is necessary.Don’t check off every box listed above?
