Our Senior Sonographer on the Ultrasound Team:Demonstrates a higher level of commitment and advanced skills in the Ultrasound Division, possesses multiple certifications, and displays a commitment to sharing and teaching their skills to other Sonographers and students.Contributes to the development of policies, procedures, standards, objectives, and quality assurance needs of the Ultrasound Division.Clearly demonstrates flexibility and a commitment to enhancing the Ultrasound environment for patients, Sonographers and Radiologists.Performs a variety of routine and complex imaging procedures using high frequency sound waves.Must have at least two specialty certifications by the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) and will assist the Sonographer Instructor in training of Associate Sonographers as needed.Performs a wide variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations and functions at an advanced level within the Ultrasound Division.Since ultrasound can be degraded or blocked by various tissues and materials including lung, bowel gas and bone, obtaining a sonogram is a tailored examination requiring technical skill to adjust the machine, experience to find appropriate windows that can transmit an undistorted ultrasound beam, and diagnostic knowledge to obtain extra images customized to the diagnosis of concern and to abnormalities seen while obtaining the basic image set.EDUCATION:High school graduate or equivalent, graduate of an approved CAHEA/JRCT school of Radiologic Technology, or a two year allied health equivalent.Three years of continuous ultrasound training in a clinical setting.Certified ARDMS certification (registration) in two subspecialties of diagnostic ultrasound (not including physics which is required for the first certification). One of these certifications must be abdomen or Ob-Gyn.EXPERIENCE:Three years of clinical experience in Diagnostic Ultrasound is required to be hired as a Senior Sonographer. External candidates who have not worked within the network in the past year are eligible for a hiring bonus based on experience - bonuses are between $10,000 and $15,000 and are paid out over a few installments.
