Job Description:The Clinical Research Technologist serves as a bench technologist for the Nemours GI Diagnostic and Research lab, and performs enzyme, immunologic, and other assays in body fluids and tissue samples for diagnostic testing purposes. Bench duties include acquiring and logging in samples, performing, interpreting and resulting assays. Other duties include providing assistance for other technologists, maintaining inventory, participating in, preparing, and reviewing new assay procedures and providing assistance to the lab manager to ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA and JCAHO requirements. This position is also responsible for providing progress and update reports to the lab manager and director. In addition, this position will participate in research involving the development and validation of new clinical assays. Maintains both handwritten and computerized records of work performed. Assists in implementation of new laboratory protocols and processes.Primary Responsibilities: * Follows all aspects of SOP's in the conduct of patient diagnostic testing.
  • Knowledge and performance of clinical diagnostics consistent with CAP and/or CLIA requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory environment and function at a level consistent with CAP and CLIA guidelines
  • Perform testing using a range of biochemical techniques under the direction of the Laboratory Head and/or lab managers.
  • Responsible for processing various biological specimens, following laboratory protocols
  • Understands the use of equipment within the laboratory
  • Utilize databases for diagnostic sample tracking and results.
  • Comply with safety policies specified by departmental and hospital regulations to ensure a safe work environment and prevent potential safety hazards.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in biology, genetics, biochemistry or related field; knowledge of basic enzyme and immunoassay techniques, related research methodology; computer literacy required.
  • 1-3 years experience working in a biomedical research laboratory
