- Supervise other professional and non-professional staff in the day-to-day delivery of resident care; schedule job assignments and develop nursing unit priorities; orient new staff and participate in the recruitment and selection of nursing personnel; communicate policies, assist and coach as needed; monitor work assignments, provide feedback, evaluate performance, and redirect and discipline employees as needed.
- Prepare and review medical records and nurse's notes and assess residents' physical and emotional status; monitor resident activity and provide nursing care according to the physician's orders, care plans, established standards and facility policies; coordinate and assist with new admissions, transfers, and discharges; transcribe physicians telephone orders; communicate with residents, family members, other interdisciplinary team members, and management regarding resident's status.
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician in accordance with nursing standards and facility policies; sign, date and perform all charting and recordkeeping in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Understand, comply with, and promote all rules regarding residents' rights.
- Assist and participate in developing and implementing written care plans for individual residents that address the needs of the resident.
- Participate in in-service training; assist in implementing orientation programs and job skills training; maintain professional competence.
- Monitor environment and care practices of nursing personnel to ensure compliance with established safety, fire, disaster, infection control and all other departmental policies and procedures; ensure cleanliness and safety of work and treatment areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State.
- Must be able to relate positively to residents and families and work cooperatively with other employees.
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
- Must meet all local health regulations, and successfully complete a post-offer health assessment.
- Must be capable of performing the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Experience as a Charge Nurse or supervisory experience preferred.
- Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices): Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to hear and respond to pages; ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures, ability to read and write, ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with residents, families, personnel, vendors, and consultants; ability to remain calm under stress.
