
Mechanical Engineering Intern

- Design electronic packages for Garmin International products using Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems such as SolidWorks
- Apply knowledge of math, science and physics, strong spatial skills, and a pragmatic approach to rapidly take product concept to mass production
- Design a wide variety of components including injection molded plastic, die cast aluminum and zinc, sheet metal, CNC machined and screw machine fabricated parts, compression molded rubber, display components, flex circuits, touch panels, speaker enclosures, mounting systems, etc.
- Specify requirements for and source parts such as electrical connectors, speakers, microphones, LCD’s, backlights, keypads, switches, electric motors, screw machined parts, rotary controls, batteries and antennas
- Conduct analysis and testing of new process, materials and components
- Interface with Electrical Engineers, Industrial Designers, Tooling Engineer, and Process Engineers for discussion of basic designs
- Maintain configuration control of documentation for products in production and interface with available drafting and document control resources
- Completed coursework in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- CAD knowledge and/or experience
- Relevant mechanical design experience and PC/Windows environment experience
- Demonstrated strengths in math, science, physics and practical application coursework
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
