- Product Vision & Strategy
- Develop product vision, strategy, and roadmaps for the product/product line to align with company goals.
- Define and create product roadmap.
- Translate and align business strategy into product strategy.
- Manage the development of product lines and evaluates rationalized models.
- Market Trends and Movement
- Develop market insight through the voice of customer research, in-depth competitive analysis, and market segmentation.
- Perform competitive benchmarking and market share/trend analysis.
- Develop and foster customer relationships with the knowledge they will participate in market research and provide feedback on early prototypes.
- Gather, analyze, and prioritize user feedback; prioritize features, and define requirements to address customer needs.
- Identify customer needs and translate them into product opportunities.
- Product Lifecycle: Product Planning and Prioritization
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and marketing teams to define and implement product strategies to build and launch products.
- Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototype construction and final product development. Drive the development process by setting timelines and project managing.
- Provide critical information and guidance as it relates to the 4-P’s (Price, Product, Promotion, Place).
- Provide input for marketing collateral and product positioning
- Plan and execute product launches in collaboration with key stakeholders. Manage activities related to bringing the product to market i.e., messaging, positioning, and training materials.
- Manage and drive the entire product lifecycle to include strategic planning, tactical activities, and addressing customer feedback and issues.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization
- Track product performance using KPIs and analytics.
- Manage product line revenue, margin, pricing, and investment.
- Analyze and report key performance metrics like sales data, user engagement, and customer satisfaction to understand product performance.
- Monitor metrics that measure the success of products, product improvements, feature prioritization, and product future.
- Gather feedback from initial users to validate the product before a wider launch.
- Consistently seek opportunities to improve the product based on user feedback and market changes.
- Drive 80/20 complexity reduction across the product lines including product rationalization.
- Drive margin expansion for the Product Line by working with Operations and/or Supply Chain to drive cost reductions (PPV), Engineering to drive VA\VE projects, and finally with Commercial on pricing.
- Ability to recognize value sell opportunities and create sales tools to support the field; ability to understand and demonstrate technical products.
- Experience working with competitive pricing and promotions with manufactured products.
- Automotive and/or aerospace market experience preferred.
- Strategic and user centric mindset with the ability to identify growth opportunities.
- Robust problem-solving methodologies and proven critical thinking ability.
- Demonstrated knowledge in product management tools and data analysis tools.
- Experience with cross-functional team leadership and working with engineering, design, and marketing teams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint required.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3+ years of product management experience, with at least two of those years in developing a new product in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of experience and proven technical aptitude and applications knowledge.
- Requires use of hands and arms at least 90% of the time.
- Majority of the time is spent sitting.
- Lifting requirements are generally less than 10 lbs. Manual lifting could reach the company maximum of 50 lbs.
- Climate-controlled office environment.
- The employee will occasionally visit customer site for troubleshooting design.
- Noise exposure is moderate.
