Senior AI Specialist

• Counsel executive leadership on AI-driven technology strategies and policies to create a sustainable competitive advantage in the Transportation industry.
• Create AI Governance model along with AI Policies for NJT including ethics , Risk, Data privacy ,Security, Ownership and Accountability
• Lead the end-to-end development lifecycle for AI projects, from conceptualization to deployment, in collaboration with engineering teams and C-level executives.
• Document and share insights, architectural decisions, and best practices from each AI project for cross-organizational learning.
• Create an ecosystem that integrates innovative AI technologies like generative models and large language models.
• Work with internal and external partners to pinpoint impactful AI use-cases and deliver transformative solutions.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies in AI and machine learning to inform and drive strategic decisions.
• Align AI-driven projects and initiatives with business objectives through ongoing collaboration with stakeholders.
• Evaluate, fine-tune, and scale AI models and systems to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
• Uphold best practices and standards for AI ethics, security, and data privacy within the organization.
• Mentor a talented team of AI specialists, fostering a culture of continuous innovation and growth.
• Facilitate effective communication of complex AI concepts to a diverse audience, from technical experts to business leaders.

• A Doctoral Degree or equivalent advanced degree in a qualitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, etc. is required. Prior transportation industry knowledge is preferred.
• 10 years' experience in Data Science or job-related field required. Experience in a transportation system is preferred.
• Familiarity with transportation data standards and experience working with large databases, to clean, standardize and integrate data from multiple sources.
• Proficiency in integrating data from traditional relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL/PostgreSQL/Teradata etc.) as well as other data architectures such as data lakes, BigQuery, FHIR store, HL7 store etc.
• Experience creating visualizations, reports and dashboards using BI tools such as Looker/Tableau/Data Studio/PowerBI.
• Experience with advanced analytics using Python, and proficiency in libraries such as matplotlib, pandas, numpy, scipy, sklearn, Keras, TensorFlow etc.
• Experience in application of advanced machine learning techniques to tasks such as regression, classification, clustering, time series modeling etc.
• Experience with cloud deployment of Client/AI applications.
• Experience facilitating large projects which includes implementation of cloud technology and related processes for operational success.
• Practical experience in leveraging large language models for real-world solutions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming and the Software Development Lifecycle.

• Demonstrated expertise in program leadership, governance, and facilitating change.
