ResponsibilitiesPosition OverviewTRC is seeking an experienced Environmental Technician/Industrial Hygienist to join our Building Science and Industrial Hygiene practice in Exton, PA to conduct surveys and abatement oversight for asbestos, lead-based paint, indoor air quality, water loss, mold and other industrial hygiene projects.Responsibilities:
- Perform project oversight and coordination with contractors.
- Operate and maintain instruments including sampling pumps, calibrators, and microscopes.
- Collect samples as required by various regulatory agencies, complete data sheets, chain of custody forms, and prepare samples for shipment to laboratory.
- Maintain daily logs of activities related to project work.
- Interact and communicate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agency representatives.
- Read project specifications and drawings.
- Prepare reports.
- Travel throughout DC, VA and MD is expected.
- Inspections/Abatement Design/Project Oversight for Asbestos, Mold, IAQ and Lead Based Paint. Water intrusion investigations and moisture mapping. Coordinate multiple projects with property owners, building managers and regulators.
- Possess outstanding verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- 7 years of experience in the hazardous building materials, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene industry is required.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or Engineering related field.
- Prior experience in various aspects of asbestos, water loss, mold, IAQ and lead abatement projects.
- Must be able to read and understand project specifications and drawings.
- Must be a good communicator and a team player.
- Intuitive and creative thinker. Understanding of their surroundings and reason the services are being provided. A consultative demeanor and ability to work with customers / clients and offer solutions when needed.
- Adaptability and flexibility to various work schedules and situations related to emergency response scenarios.
- The candidate must hold or have the qualifications to obtain the following certifications:
- EPA Accredited Asbestos Building Inspector/Management Planner
- Virginia and Maryland Asbestos Building Inspector
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Training
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-Hour Training
- Ability to carry and climb ladders and being able to use hand and power tools.
- Be able to wear a respirator, safety harness and other safety equipment as needed.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable means of transportation.
