The Lead Engineer for Commercial Projects in Lancaster, CA plays a vital role in overseeing and managing various commercial construction projects, including office buildings, retail centers, hotels, and other large-scale developments. This position involves a range of technical, administrative, and coordination responsibilities to support project success.Role Overview1. Project Coordination and Assistance
  • Support the project manager in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of all project phases, from pre-construction to project completion.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders to facilitate project workflow.
2. Document Control
  • Manage and review project documentation, including contracts, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and shop drawings.
  • Maintain accurate project records to meet contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Distribute project plans, specifications, and other essential documents to relevant parties as needed.
3. Technical Assistance
  • Analyze construction plans and specifications to identify and resolve potential issues or discrepancies.
  • Aid in value engineering efforts to enhance project cost-effectiveness and efficiency while upholding quality standards.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with design plans, building codes, and safety regulations.
4. Scheduling and Cost Management
  • Assist in developing and updating project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Procore.
  • Track project costs, review subcontractor invoices, and support budget forecasting and reporting.
  • Identify and address potential schedule delays to keep projects on track.
5. Communication and Reporting
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for project-related communications with clients, stakeholders, and the project team.
  • Prepare progress reports, meeting minutes, and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend project meetings to provide updates on project status, risks, and resolutions.
6. Quality Assurance and Safety Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and local building codes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the implementation of safety programs and compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
  • Conduct quality control inspections and coordinate corrective actions for any deficiencies identified.
7. Problem-Solving and Resolution
  • Address field issues such as material shortages, design conflicts, or construction errors by collaborating with the project team.
  • Manage RFIs and change orders to efficiently resolve design or scope changes.
  • Anticipate challenges and propose solutions to keep projects on track.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a relevant field.
  • Experience: 1-5 years of experience in commercial construction or a related field (entry-level positions may require less experience).
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Proficient in construction management software such as Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
