- Monitors quality for incoming raw materials
- Supervises Lab Technicians
- Assists in internal and external audits
- Assures that work in progress is held in a manner that precludes deterioration and does not compromise product quality
- Establish and maintain high performance standards in housekeeping - Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), International Food Standard (IFS), FDA Standards, Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and American Institute of Baking (AIB)
- Monitors quality of product produced and communicates issues to production teams, plant manager, or other departments as needed
- Records and communicates customer complaints according to the complaint procedure
- Isolates and places product on hold due to possible foreign materials, product performance, ingredient or packaging material issues which could pose a food safety risk or compromise product quality or integrity
- Assists in the disposition of “hold” product
- Conducts training and participates in food safety inspections
- Maintains product formulas and communicates changes
- Ensures label specifications are accurate
- Promotes and facilitates safe work practices at all times. Takes appropriate actions to ensure the safety of all Dawn team members

- Plant IFS Document Coordinator
- Provides statistical analysis on product when needed
- Calibrates and keeps lab equipment in good working condition
- Other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager
- Supports the Quality Assurance Manager
- Responsible for the development and implementation of programs and procedures to maximize production, minimize waste, increase capacity and efficiencies and maintain product quality and integrity
- Supports the D.O.M.E. Pillars and by leading and sponsoring FI Teams for the continued improvement of operations
- Constantly evaluates team performance to efficiently coordinate the necessary resources for schedule attainment
- Coaches, teaches, coordinates, and evaluates programs for team members to develop skills advantageous to the company's needs and goals
- Operational responsibilities include Controlling Costs in:
- Raw ingredients - Packaging and Ingredients
- Direct Labor - Staffing Levels and OT
- Operating Expenses including Overhead Spend
- Works closely with the Maintenance Team to coordinate improvement projects (Capital and Local Budget)
- Must be able to work in an environment where various allergens, including, but not limited to nuts, are received as shipments, mixed in ingredients, used as toppings, or baked into product. This will fluctuate based on business need.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Associates Degree in Food Science or related field OR Two (2) years' experience in a food manufacturing quality assurance department
- Two (2) years' management experience preferred
- Bakery experience preferred
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills essential
- Exposure to and experience with GMP's, AIB standards, IFS, GFSI, understand Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) programs, OSHA standards, food safety programs and plant safety programs , GDA / FDA
- Proficient in basic math skills
- Computer skills required
- Must be able to handle several tasks at one time and correctly prioritize conflicting, time sensitive tasks
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to grasp, move, or utilize objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to use sensory perception for quality measurement of products.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move 35 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
- Temperature fluctuates with the season - colder during the winter/warmer during the summer
- Working around heavy machinery - hearing protection required in production area
- Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, wheat, and soy.
