Time Type: [[Hourly]]SUMMARYThe Industrial Engineering Intern will work on targeted projects individually or in small teams. Projects may require operational observations, data collection/analysis, cross functional communication and problem solving. All projects and tasks will be presented to Engineering management upon completion and a broader leadership group for their major assigned project. The internship will include assignments on challenging and industry-specific projects and tasks that a traditional Industrial Engineer would support in a warehouse environment, as well the opportunity to network with organizational leaders, colleagues, and peers.The Industrial Engineering Intern will provide support with the day-to-day operation and project-based assignments. Focus will be on continuous improvement and business optimization for operations.This position requires attention to detail, analytical abilities, a creative mind to invent solutions to improve quality and internal process related to information sharing, data analysis, etc.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and equipment
- Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine workflow processes, staff requirements, and production standards
- Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting and computer applications.
- Evaluate material handling equipment requirements as needed
- Conduct observations and time studies on warehouse floor to create engineered standards / rate development
- Assist in developing project scopes, specifications and estimates as needed
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Aid in special projects
- Performs other duties as required
- Must reside within daily commuting distance of advertised internship location
- DSV is seeking local market internship candidates (or candidates that are local during the timing of the summer internship {05/28/2024-08/09/2024})

- Ability to work with basic engineering and mathematical concepts and principles, applying them to practical situations
- Ability to use computers, systems, and software applications to enter data and process/maintain information in written and electronic form.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree Program/ recently graduated
- Industrial Engineering or another related major
- In Sophomore year or greater
- None
- Advanced skill in MS Office primarily Word, PowerPoint and Excel (including Excel pivot tables and formulas).
- Familiar with Warehouse Management Software (WMS)
- AutoCAD or similar CAD software experience preferred
- MS Visio experience preferred
- English (reading, writing, verbal)
