
Maintenance Mechanic (2nd Shift)

- Ensure all work is performed following safety policies, GMP standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Prioritizes safety in all tasks by adhering to established safety procedures, completing required safety documentation, and ensuring work is performed in a safe and compliant manner.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of mechanical system and process equipment essential for the operation and maintenance of plant utilities and critical utility systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and critical GMP utility systems (RO, WFI, Pure Steam, HVAC, compressed air, boilers, chillers, etc.).
- Diagnoses machine failure and implement effective repairs to eliminate root causes.
- Conduct troubleshooting and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure continuous support to manufacturing operations.
- Monitor utility performance, record critical parameters, and maintain accurate GMP documentation in compliance with ALCOA principles.
- Work with engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing teams to ensure utilities meet operational needs and compliance requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to utility and facility alarms or emergencies.
- Assist engineering and others with the design, installation, and certifications of installation and modifications to systems and equipment
- Perform scheduled maintenance and testing of fire protection and alarm systems
- Perform scheduled maintenance and testing of security systems
- Identification of proper spare parts inventories for utility and facility related equipment
- Ordering of non-inventory repair parts.
- Perform repairs to facilities
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
- Assist Engineering and Facilities teams with small capital projects, equipment installation, or facility upgrades.
- Support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives, such as safety audits, toolbox talks, or emergency drills.
- Provide input for continuous improvement activities to increase reliability, reduce downtime, or improve energy efficiency of utility systems.
- Participate in cross-train in other facility/maintenance functions.
- Assist in inventory management of spare parts and consumables related to utility and facility systems.
- Support contractor oversight during facility or utility service activities.
- Perform general facility maintenance tasks (e.g., lighting, minor carpentry, painting, plumbing) as assigned, outside of GMP-critical systems.
- Contribute to site sustainability initiatives (energy conservation, water reduction, waste minimization).
- High School Diploma, GED (required)
- Technical School (AS degree preferred)
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of facility maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other GMP-regulated industry.
- Formal training and working knowledge of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems and troubleshooting
- Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting critical GMP utilities including Reverse Osmosis systems, Water for Injection Systems, Pure Steam Systems.
- Experience supporting HVAC systems for cleanrooms.
- Working knowledge of installations and repairs to various distribution systems including but not limited to city water, process water, compressed air and gases, and steam and condensate.
- Strong working knowledge of plant utilities such as boilers, chillers, and air compressors.
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing ladders, and working in mechanical/equipment rooms.
- Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must have the ability to kneel and stoop for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts while following safety procedures.
