- Develop precise cost estimates based on drawings and specifications.
- Assist in project budgeting and pursuit of opportunities.
- Utilize Pre-Estimate Outline for all estimates.
- Participate in estimate review and pricing approval processes.
- Request and confirm pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Verify accurate commodity pricing and labor units for estimates.
- Establish time budgets for estimates.
- Attend pre-bid project walk-throughs.
- Print and review hard copies of project drawings and specifications.
- Actively participate in estimator daily huddles and weekly meetings.
- Utilize company estimating software to develop estimates.
- Assist with project presentations and project kickoff meetings.
- Provide mentoring, training, and support to trainees and interns.
- Identify and implement pre-fabrication opportunities in collaboration with the construction team.
- Implement strategies for LEAN / AGILE Construction Delivery Methods.
- Assist with change order estimating.
- Maintain organized project estimating files and documentation.
- Prepare and finalize estimate letters or bid forms for Project Manager review.
- Participate in completed project reviews.
- Stay current with emerging construction technologies and industry practices.
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required; candidates with equivalent experience are encouraged to apply.
- 5-10 years of experience in electrical construction preferred; however, applications with relevant education and experience in electrical systems will be considered.
- Strong understanding of electrical plans, systems, and specifications.
- Ability to accurately review drawings and determine required estimation time budgets.
- Strong team-building and collaboration skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Sound judgment in escalating issues appropriately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office and company-specific software.
