Job Description:SALARY: $49.86/hr (SR-20, BU:79)The Registered Professional Nurse III is responsible for conducting a variety of specific training, and staff development programs for clinical personnel consistent with regulatory requirements, policies and procedures and needs of the organization to develop and maintain employee awareness of customer service relations and personal growth.At Hilo Medical Center, a nationally-recognized "Top Performing" hospital, the Registered Professional Nurse is a valuable member of our team. We are currently seeking a Registered Professional Nurse III for our busy Emergency Services Department. This position will be responsible for independently developing and implementing nursing care plans for patients; providing nursing care treatment and educational services; may assign and direct the work of lower-level registered nurses and nursing assistants; may serve as a charge nurse on an assigned shift and perform other related duties as assigned.The function of the Emergency Services Department is to provide nursing and first aid to patients brought in on emergencies, and assists the Emergency Room physician in examination and treatment of the patients. This unit arranges admittance to the hospital for those who need it and maintains record of all emergency cases.Qualified candidates will demonstrate outstanding communication skills, while adhering to our Mission, Vision, and Values.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor's Degree is highly desirable.Evidence of the appropriate training (e.g. official transcript of diploma) should be submitted with the application to be given credit for education. A legible photocopy will be accepted. However, Hilo Medical Center reserves the right to request an official copy.EXPERIENCE: One-half (1/2) year of professional nursing work experience, where the employee independently provided nursing care to patients in a clinic, hospital, or institution.SELECT CERTIFICATION: Of the required one-half (1/2) year of professional nursing work experience, one-half (1/2) year of professional nursing experience working in an Emergency Services or critical care setting is required. The required experience must have been gained within the past two (2) years.CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within one (1) month of appointment. Although it is not a requirement the following certifications are preferred: ACLS, PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC and ENPC.LICENSURE: A valid State of Hawaii as a Registered Professional Nurse is required.
