- Responsible for overseeing the installation of Tech Electronics systems at the project site; ensures that the system installation meets the needs of the customer.
- Maintains understanding of each Strategic Business Unit's market strategy to properly support customer and fellow employee needs.
- Knows who each project team member is assigned to the project; Understands the roles and responsibilities of each project team member. Maintains communications with each project team member as required to ensure a successful project.
- Attends sit down with the project team to review project scope of work, bill of materials, system design and project objectives; attends design sit-downs as scheduled by the project manager to review system design and progress regarding the project.
- Reviews and understands all paperwork associated with the project including initial project and change orders.
- Obtains technicians hours budgeted for the project; ensures that project is completed within assigned hours or reviews concerns with project manager to develop a plan to minimize any potential overage in hours allocated.
- Performs installation startup; reviews with the plans, specifications, scope of work, connection drawings, and cabling layout with the Wiremen, Technicians and/or Installers.
- Reviews any safety hazards at project site; informs project manager of any potential safety issues at project site. Do not perform work in unsafe areas or conditions.
- Periodically reviews progress at project site as scheduled by the Project Manager; ensures that the system is being installed per plans, specifications, scope of work, local and national codes; informs Project Manager of progress and/or issues relating to the project. Assists the Wireman, Technician and/or Installer in resolving any technical or installation issues.
- Performs programming of systems as scheduled by the Project Manager at the project site.
- Performs checkout and testing of the system to ensure proper system operation; informs the Project Manager of any issues; assists the Wireman, Technician and/or Installer in resolving any technical or installation issues.
- Maintains communications with the Project Manager throughout the project regarding project site activity.
- Oversees all work performed by Subcontractors at project site
- Understands and adheres to the installation and safety standards developed and defined by the General Foreman.
- Training and development;
- Studies literature and attends seminars and/or in-house training classes as scheduled by the General Foreman to stay current with company systems, products, services and processes.
- Maintains a detailed understanding of all local and national codes applicable to Tech Electronics' system installations; ensures system installations adhere to applicable codes.
- Maintains a detailed understanding and application of industry design practices defined by nationally recognized organizations such as Building Industry Consulting Services Institute (BICSI), National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), and National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA).
- Obtains and maintains manufacturer and industry certifications as scheduled by the General Foreman; stays current on manufacturer system and/or software enhancements.
- Works with fellow employees (designers), customers, manufacturers in recommending standards of system installation to the General Foreman, Field Consultation Foreman or Installation Foreman.
- Responsible for suggesting methods to improve operations, processes, efficiency and service to both internal and external customers.
- Confers with system engineers (designers) and CAD operators to provide technical advice and to resolve problems in support of drawings and design for Tech Electronics' field installations.
- Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees and managers to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity and continued improvement.
- 4+ years working in the electronic field where AC/DC theory is used on a daily basis
- 4+ years working as an Installation or Service Technician or meets the job knowledge criteria for a Field Consultation Technician as determined by the General Foreman.
- Detailed working knowledge of the National Electric Code and the BOCA National Building Codes
- Two year associates degree in electronics is preferred but not required
- Associate's Degree in a technical field or equivalent industry work experience.
- One year working in the electronics field where AC/DC theory is used on a daily basis.
- Valid state Driver's License
- Must maintain Automobile Liability Insurance with minimum limits of:
- $100,000 each person
- $300,000 each accident
- $100,000 property damage
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. In addition, the employee must frequently climb ladders and often perform work while up on a ladder.
- Work may require performing functions on vertical lifts, scissor lifts and platform scaffolding at heights greater than 30 feet.
- The employee must exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include clarity of vision at 20 feet or more as well as 20 inches or less.
