The Student Leadership Coordinator serves as primary advisor for the Residence Hall Association and the Scarlet and Cream chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary.The Student Leadership Coordinator will:
  • Advise individual student members of the respective executive boards and providing support for general and executive board meetings.
  • Lead and provide guidance for Residence Directors who serve as advisors for local hall governments/councils.
  • Conduct elections for all groups, ensures that constitutions are upheld, maintains organizational budgets, including semesterly financial audits, and liaises with Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement (SLICE) and Student Organization Financial Services (SOFS).
  • Manage several Learning Communities, supervises student Peer Mentors, and liaise with faculty and staff sponsors.
  • Develops training for both student leaders and professional staff to ensure organizations are effective and adhering to policies and guidelines.
  • The Student Leadership Coordinator encourages participation in regional and national conferences, including chaperoning student groups attending conferences. In addition, this position identifies opportunities for all residents to grow and develop leadership skills.

  • Bachelor's degree plus one year of experience.
  • At least 1 year with residence life.
  • OR At least 1 year with educational programming.
  • OR At least 1 year with student success at a higher education level.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and concurrently prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise mature professional judgment, and use discretion.
  • Ability to function in a collaborative, cross-team capacity.
  • Ability to consult and collaboratively work with a variety of subject matter experts and leaders across campus.
  • Experience leading and managing the work of others to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications.
  • Strong problem solving skills; especially demonstrating creativity and innovation.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirement and willingness to become certified to drive 12-passanger vans.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with residence hall government.
  • Demonstrated experience in event planning or programming.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget or financial management.
  • Demonstrated experience in student staff training and development.
