- Report for shift on time and dressed in proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean work truck and a safe work environment including using all safety equipment and following all safety procedures.
- Interact with all employees in a professional manner.
- Ensures that all tools are accessible.
- Service all trucks and equipment using fuel, lube, grease and filters.
- Make minor repairs to equipment or trucks.
- Monitor workflow (scheduling and machine availability) and make adjustments as required.
- Fuel / Lube mechanics drive a service truck to various job sites when required to repair machinery and equipment.
- Works extended hours when required.
- Inspect, report, and correct deficiencies, and maintain all types of heavy equipment, including but not limited to reclaimers, milling machines, loaders, haul trucks, graders, dozers, pavers, rollers, dump trucks, Redimix trucks, trailers and road tractors.
- Examines equipment and discusses with shop foreperson, operator, or project manager the nature and extent of damage or malfunction.
- Raises equipment, with hydraulic jack, hoist or crane, to gain access to mechanical components underside of equipment,
- Repairs or replaces parts such as but not limited to drums, seals, buckets, hydraulic pumps, electric motors, air and hydraulic valves, pistons, rods, gears, electrical wiring, electrical components, radios, heaters, wipers etc.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all brands and types of mobile equipment with proper procedures for containment and/or disposal of waste.
- Adhere to any and all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), or any other regulatory agency.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to the assigned job site in uniform and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Perform additional tasks and assignments as directed by supervisor
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
- Strict adherence to Tilcon policies and procedures.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- High school education or GED.
- Minimum 5 years' related experience, preferably in a similar industry.
- Ownership of basic hand tools/tool box for the task at hand up to 1 ¼ “
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to use a computer to create and manage work orders, timecards, email, etc.
- Basic welding skills
- Strong communication skills to ensure a positive and efficient working relationship with employees.
- Must be able to operate and drive equipment.
- Class B CDL license with Hazmat, Tanker and Air Brake endorsement
- Excellent organizational skills.
