
SPS03 Machine Operator/ CNC Operator 2nd Shift (Veneer)

- Supports various machines through the set-up, installation, and removal of dies, jigs, rollers, and fixtures that includes the following machines: BAZ, CNC, Edge Banders and HPL Presses. Jobs where the average training time for a qualified operator is 9 months or longer. Set-ups must result in parts that meet required specifications. Must be able to regularly complete the required number of set-ups as established by management, including first piece part quality checks to required specifications. Resolves non-conforming parts issues often related to variations with incoming materials and capable of trouble shooting and resolving any machine/die issues. Makes machine adjustments as needed. Coordinates production runs to meet customer demands. Occasionally sets up and runs engineering specials or production runs as needed. Inspects dies for maintenance needs and works with tooling to resolve issues with new or rebuilt dies. Assists in training new machine operators as requested. May be responsible for upkeep and accuracy of die storage areas in a clean and orderly condition. Responsible to help problem solve setup issues or do setups as needed.
- Must have a thorough understanding of the relationship between machine settings and material.
- Must have expert experience in trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
- Must be capable of setting up complex parts to achieve acceptable quality, also capable of adjusting the machines computer controls to manage the correct speed, tension, etc. in order to maintain quality, safety and to ensure damage does not occur to the machine.
- Must have a complete knowledge of how to develop new work Std for new product, work with Engineers and vendors on new process/parts, problem solve any issues with those groups.
- Have ability to evaluate tooling conditions and adjust as needed.
- Have ability to recognize steel variations and adjust machine as needed.
- Work with scheduling to maximize production needs and setup of the machines…. handle shortages as it fits with daily schedule, operator determines how to run shortages.
- Computer knowledge required, including SAP for ordering and tracking materials, s, and for email communications with engineering, quality, tooling, etc.
- Able to follow established safety procedures to avoid injury too self and others.
- Able to work standing constantly and with frequent bending and twisting.
- Able to occasionally lift 35 lbs. from floor to waist; lift 50lbs from waist to shoulders; and push / pull up to 15 lbs.
- Able to frequently carry 35-55 lbs.
- Able to occasionally grasp with moderate force.
- Required to read blueprints and use measuring tools (e.g. calipers, linear measuring machine, fixtures etc.) to ensure parts are within quality specifications and all specs on blueprint are transferred to parts. Must understand quality standards and part specifications.
