Performs mental health services for children and adolescents experiencing crisis. Work involves conducting crisis interviews and clinical assessments; site-crisis coverage for referrals and, provision of continuity of care to referred mental health individuals in crisis. Works under moderate supervision of the Supervisor with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment in carrying out details of the work.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
  • Provides on-site crisis assessments and develops intervention plans.
  • Provides crisis counseling and support as deemed necessary.
  • Coordinates referrals to community-based providers
  • Provides crisis assessments in the community including hospitals.
  • Prepares progress notes and other required documentation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Considerable knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and practices of therapy and interpersonal relationships, the functioning of social service or treatment facility community resources and how to use them effectively.Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions
  • Excellent written communication and basic computer skills
  • Excellent verbal communication with clients, staff, and community partners
  • Time management required to meet service goals
  • Stooping, bending, sitting, standing, keyboarding for prolonged periods, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to be CPR and PMAB certified
  • Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required
Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, or related field required. Must be licensed as a LCSW, LPC, or LMFT. Must be able to obtain and maintain credentialing as a Qualified Mental Health Professional through training and competency evaluations for employment in this position.
